Microsoft Office 2010 release
Category : General 25 Mar 2010 04:45 AM | Insider News
Office 2010, the latest version of Microsoft’s product suite, will be available to business users on May 12. Everyone else will have to wait for its full release in June.
Users who purchased a copy of Office 2007 on or after March 5 will also receive a free upgrade to Office 2010 once it is released.
The newest installment of the Office suite will include all the applications in previous versions including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The beta release of the suite, currently available for download through Microsoft’s Web site, gives a glimpse of what is to be expected.
The main draw of Office 2010 will be its online collaboration tools. Users will be able to work in real-time on the same project over the Internet. Aside from that, the new additions seem a bit thin.
Microsoft is also facing some new challenges from its competitors. In addition to applications that already include live collaboration features, Google announced on May 5 that it purchased DocVerse which allows users of Microsoft Office to collaborate on projects over the Web.
