New Trojan Threatens Blackmail
Category : Web Solutions 20 Apr 2010 10:55 AM | Insider News
A new Trojan spreading from Japan threatens to post the Internet history of infected users, warns security experts from Trend Micro.
According to a report the Kenzero Trojan disguises itself as a download for an adult computer game. Once downloaded, the malware not only demands personal information, but also scans the computer's user account, domain, computer name and operating system version, among other things. It then publishes all the data on a public Web site and sends the victim an e-mail accusing the user of copyright theft. It threatens litigation if the $10 'copyright infringement fee' is not paid.
So far 5,500 people have fallen victim to the scam.
